When a family decided they needed help with a kitchen remodel in their Woodinville, WA home, they contacted interior designer Harmony Weihs. “I saw her work and really felt her design portfolio and philosophy matched what we were looking for,” says the homeowner, Jen. “She designs for families: it’s design for real life,” she explains. The kitchen project, which Jen describes as needing to cater to both function and lifestyle, was in part created to support her gardening, cooking, and farm-to-table hobby.

“They were pretty aligned in what they wanted, so that made the project much easier,” says Weihs. “They’re huge chefs, not professionally, but they spend a lot of time cooking together and they have this beautiful greenhouse,” she explains of the couple’s desire to have a kitchen outfitted with high-end appliances and plenty of storage to serve their love of cooking.

“I first found the True Residential units on Pinterest” says Jen. “I was putting my little pin board together on my dream kitchen and I saw a project featuring True,” she says. While she previously felt it was a foregone conclusion she was going to shop for appliances at one of the most well-known brands out on the market today, once she saw our designs, her perception changed. The unit she was originally looking at had a plastic interior. “I cook so much from scratch,” says Jen, “and that includes chicken stock, a lot of garlic and tomatoes—all yielding very pungent smells.” Our stainless steel interiors swayed her: “I wanted something that does not retain smells and would be easy to clean.” Once they settled on the refrigeration company, Jen, her husband Doug, and Weihs decided on one undercounter Wine Cabinet and two 30” units—one glass door refrigerator and one freezer, all in an antique white finish with pewter hardware. The units not only play well with the rest of the appliances, the Calcutta marble countertops, hardware, and cabinets—the latter of which Doug built himself—but as Jen explains, she no longer has to play “refrigerator tetris,” as everything fits within our units’ expansive interior space. “She did a lot of homework prior to hiring me,” says Weihs. “They love beauty and True’s items are so unique and well built.” They also perfectly complement the gorgeous Lacanche range they had flown in from France.

The refrigerator’s glass door is phenomenal,” says Weihs. “It makes the kitchen feel bigger since you can really see into it.” It also serves as a nice break between all the cabinetry and white in the kitchen. Not to be forgotten, our Wine Cabinet is situated close to the refrigerators, allowing the couple to cook and pair their farm-to-table meals with a great wine. “One thing I love, at the end of the day on Friday or Saturday, after working in the garden, is to come into the kitchen, open up a gorgeous wine, and enjoy a glass with my husband,” she explains. “I am a big believer that all appliances don’t have to match, but you do need some consistency. I loved that we didn’t have to add anything else for the wine cabinet,” adds Weihs. “I absolutely would recommend True Residential to any client,” she continues. “They’re easy to work with—they work with designers and clients to help them. That’s rare.”
